"Walk your way to 10,000 Steps: School Edition" is a continuous 4-6 week program.**  Kids,
Teachers and Staff are more than welcome to participate!  The School Edition is a scaled down
version of our 9 week
"Walk Your Way to 10,000 Steps" program.

The goal of this program is to get kids moving during the school day.  At the beginning of
each day, the student is given a pedometer.  The student wears it all day long, even during
gym class and recess.  At the end of the day the students record their steps and then hand in
the pedometer so it doesn't get lost at home.

The first week will be to discover baseline steps.  DO NOT change walking activity level for
the first week.  From week 2 through 6 you will add 250 steps to the daily total per week
until a previously set goal has been reached or exceeded.

At the beginning of the program each student will receive a pedometer, a score card, and a
little prize to get them excited to start moving.  We can also arrange to have give aways at
the end of each week for those who have kept up with the program and increased their steps!

Teachers: Taking the time to move more doesn't mean less time to learn.  Learn to incorporate
moving and exercise into lesson plans.  When kids are having fun, they are more likely to
retain information and want to learn!  Other moving ideas include :
Leaving for lunch 5 minutes early and taking a walk
Having extra recess as a celebration instead of a party

The cost of this program is usually $4, but if you would like to take advantage of our Healthy
Live Policy Changes in your school, we can limit the cost or even run it for
FREE!
