Second Grader Wins Community Logo Contest

March 13, 2009

The Salamanca ACHIEVE CHART committee is proud to announce the winner of the
Salamanca School-wide logo contest. Second grader Zachary Helms took home the grand
prize on March 13th, when he was presented with a Nintendo Wii at the monthly CHART
meeting for the creative logo that he designed. Students were asked to come up with a logo
that signified what Salamanca ACHIEVE means to them and their community.

The purpose of Salamanca ACHIEVE is to bring together local leaders and stakeholders to
build healthier communities by promoting policy and environmental change with a focus on
obesity, diabetes, heart disease, healthy eating, physical activity, and preventing tobacco
use. The contest was open to all students in the Salamanca School District in January.

There were also four other winners chosen, one winner per school, to receive a $25 gift card
to Walmart. High school winner was Katie Auge, Alternative Ed Winner was Nicole
Gonzalez-Croteau, Paul Luce was chosen from the Middle School, and Noelle Coen was
selected at Seneca Elementary School. Congratulations to all our ACHIEVE logo participants
and winners!
